  • For their own good
Fifty years ago, they were screwed-up kids sent to the Florida School for Boys to be straightened out. But now they are screwed-up men, scarred by the whippings they endured. Read the story and see a video and portrait gallery.

Rolling cigars in Tarpon Springs, FL photo gallery

Lazaro Victores became interested in cigars at the age of 12. Victores, now 21 and a Holiday resident, would sit with elder cigar rollers who would show him the intricate process of neatly and snuggly wrapping the tobacco filler. "I became fascinated and I learned," Victores said. Victores can be found daily at Dream of Cuba on the Sponge Docks of Tarpon Springs. There, he hand rolls cigars.
