They come for the sand. Soft and snowy, not strewn with sharp seashells or slimy seaweed, it stretches two football fields, from sea oats to shore. Go ahead. Kick off your flip-flops. It feels like you're walking on powdered sugar. And even during the hottest part of the day, when the thermometer on the lifeguard stand said 96 degrees, beneath our bare feet the sand stayed cool. This summer, Dr. Beach rated Siesta Key the second best beach in the country. We'll show you why. From the clear water to the 1920s cottage, on a bike ride and kayaking trip, we'll take you from the Gulf, through the estuaries, and all around the little village where live music and daiquiris pour from every porch.
