The last week of the 2011 Florida legislative session
|
This is the final week of the Florida legislative session and things are moving fast and furious as legislators work toward capping a pretty full agenda. On Tuesday State lawmakers struck a deal on a $68 billion budget that slashes funding to schools and hospitals, eliminates thousands of jobs, gives a new tax break to small companies, and dishes up a few dozen slices of pork in hometown projects. Besides the budget, other bills being considered are: immigration, pill mills and whether or not the school lunch program should fall under the direction of the state Agriculture Commission.
