Diversity index

The diversity index measures the probability that two people chosen at random will be a different race or ethnicity. Indexes closer to 0 indicate that everyone in a given area is the same race or ethnicity, while places with an index closer to 1 are more diverse. For comparison, Hernando county's index is 32, Hillsborough's, 63; Pasco's index is 35 and Pinellas comes in at 39. The statewide index is 59.
