The Gulf Coast Claims Facility has distributed $3.8 billion to cover oil spill damages in the five gulf states. Florida claimants have received more money than any other state affected by the spill. In Florida, 42 percent of claimants received part of a $1.5 billion payout. Overall, 35 percent of the over 500,000 claimants in all states received money. Only 30 percent of claimants in Louisiana, which saw the most oil damage, received compensation.
