Despite losing Carl Crawford, Carlos Pena, Matt Garza, Jason Bartlett and their entire bullpen during the offseason, starting 1-8 and falling nine games out of the wild-card race in early September, the Tampa Bay Rays chased down the Boston Red Sox with a historic finish to make the playoffs for the third time in four seasons.
