Tampa Bay Rays vs. Texas Rangers

CF B.J. Upton hit a team-record tying three home runs and James Shields threw a two-hit complete game shutout to lead the Rays to a 6-0 victory and a series win over the American League-leading Rangers on Sunday.

Upton led off the bottom of the first with a first-pitch homer, went deep in the fourth on a 3-and-0 count and then struck again on the first pitch he saw in the sixth. After the third homer, Upton acknowledged the crowd's cheers by coming out of the dugout and waving his helmet. He is the third Rays player to hit three homers in a game, joining Jonny Gomes (2005) and Evan Longoria (2008).
