St. Petersburg was home of HMS Bounty for many years

The 180-foot-long, 412-ton ship was docked at the Vinoy Basin from 1965 to 1986. Built in 1960 by MGM Studios for the movie Mutiny on the Bounty, it was the first period ship constructed from the keel up soley for filming a motion picture. It was also used in The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie and most recently was used as a set for a hard-core porn movie called Pirates.
