Feral cats in Pinellas CountyPinellas County has had a problem with feral cats for years. Officials estimate that at this point, there are between 150,000 and 200,000 throughout the county. Will Davis, interim director of Animal Services, acknowledged the county hasn't made much progress. "The current way we're dealing with feral cats in this county isn't working." Davis said. "We're not reducing the population." Earlier this year, animal activists — including "trap-neuter-release" advocates — urged county leaders to do something about the issue, which has been the subject of numerous task forces and studies over the years.
