Senior Idol auditions

Each year talented seniors over 55 years old take the stage to entertain and help raise money for senior charities in the Tampa Bay area. Pinellas County's auditions were held Wednesday at the retirement community where three judges heard dozens of acts including musical, dance, vocal performances and a magic performance. Ten performers from the Pinellas audition will perform in a regional final audition at the Largo Cultural Center on Saturday, February 19, 2 p.m., where three will be selected to join nine other finalists from three other regional auditions (Hillsborough, Pasco and Manatee) who will compete in the Senior Idol Show to be held Wednesday, April 4, 7 p.m., at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. The show will be emceed by Jen Holloway and Virginia Johnson with Bay News 9. This year the audience will vote for a winner, the Senior Idol, who will receive $500 for themselves and $500 for their favorite charity.
