James’ 3 lifts Cavs to 13 in a row

CLEVELAND — LeBron James drained a 3-pointer with 15 seconds left and finished with 32 points as the Cavaliers tied a franchise record with their 13th straight win, 101-95 over the Kings on Wednesday night.

James, who changed his sneakers three times during the game also had 11 rebounds and nine assists, helping the Cavs rally from a 14-point deficit in the third to remain unbeaten since Nov. 11. His decisive 3 in the final minute was in the face of JaKarr Sampson, who had jawed with James earlier.

Cleveland also won 13 straight in the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. The Cavs will try for the team record Friday at Indiana.

Zach Randolph had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Buddy Hield added 17 points for the Kings.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: Evan Fournier scored 27 but injured his right ankle as the host Magic rallied to beat the Hawks 110-106 in overtime. Fournier, the team’s second-leading scorer, left with an injured ankle after falling on teammate Nikola Vucevic’s foot on the first possession in overtime. … Courtney Lee scored 24, Kristaps Porzingis had 18 after a slow start in his return to the lineup, and the host Knicks beat the Grizzlies 99-88. … LaMarcus Aldridge scored 18 as the balanced Spurs topped the visiting Heat 117-105. … Kevin Durant had 35 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, and the visiting Warriors beat the Hornets 101-87 without injured starters Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

HORNETS COACH TAKES LEAVE OF ABSENCE: Hornets coach Steve Clifford will be away from the team for an undetermined period of time to deal with a "health issue," the team said. Associate head coach Stephen Silas will fill in. Clifford, 56, has battled heart problems in the past, but the Associated Press reported that the current issue was not heart-related. The team said there is no timetable for Clifford’s return.

CAVS’ THOMAS PLAYS 4-ON-4: Cavaliers All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas played 4-on-4 on, a significant step in his recovery from a hip injury. Thomas has yet to make his debut with Cleveland, which acquired him during the summer in a trade that sent Kyrie Irving to the Celtics.

AROUND THE LEAGUE: Grizzlies center Marc Gasol was fined $15,000 by the league for using profanity during a TV interview after the team snapped an 11-game skid. … Suns leading scorer Devin Booker (groin) is expected to be sidelined 2-3 weeks.
