ARLINGTON, Texas — Albert Pujols and Howie Kendrick homered early, and the Angels held on to take sole possession of first place in the AL West for the first time since 2011. They are two percentage points ahead of the Athletics, who had led the division since April 28. Los Angeles has won nine in a row over the Rangers, tying the series record set in 1985 and matched a year later.
