A's 5, Astros 0
OAKLAND, Calif. — Sonny Gray struck out nine in posting his first major-league victory, and Nate Freiman had a two-run homer and four RBIs as the A's averted a three-game sweep. Freiman had a two-run double in the first, and then hit his third homer in the third. The 23-year-old Gray allowed four hits, struck out nine and walked one over eight innings, throwing 118 pitches in his second career start. "He got us to expand the zone," Astros manager Bo Porter said. "He pitched a tremendous game."
