Hoes and Carlos Corporan homered and drove in three runs each. Houston lost 4-0 in the series opener but jumped on left-hander Matt Harrison for three runs in the second before he left with back stiffness. Hoes hit a two-run homer in the inning. The Astros were up by four before a four-run fifth inning powered by Hoes' RBI single and Corporan's three-run shot.
