Pedregon takes over Funny Car

HOUSTON — Cruz Pedregon became the first two-time Funny Car winner this season on Sunday in the NHRA Springnationals at Royal Purple Raceway.

The two-time series champion beat Tim Wilkerson and moved into the points lead ahead of Matt Hagan, who lost in the first round.

Bob Vandergriff Jr. won Top Fuel, holding off Shawn Langdon in the final round. Jason Line won Pro Stock and Hector Arana Jr. took Pro Stock Motorcycle.

Line earned his second win at Royal Purple Raceway and first of the year over Shane Gray. Both covered the distance at 6.589 seconds in their Chevy Camaros, but the 0.007 reaction time of Line gave him an advantage over the 0.055 reaction time of Gray.

East Bay Raceway: Keith Nosbisch won the 50-lap Donnie Tanner Memorial Late Model feature late Saturday in Gibsonton, earning $1,500. Also, Dale Pope won the Limited Late Model feature.
