Sprint Cup scouting report: Talladega

Sprint Cup scouting report

Talladega Superspeedway

What/when: Camping World RV Sales 500, 2 p.m., Talladega, Ala.

TV/radio: ESPN, 102.5-FM

The setup: Dale Earnhardt Jr. has five Sprint Cup victories at Talladega — only Jeff Gordon, with six, has more among active drivers — but Junior called the racing "bloodthirsty" after a multicar crash here last October. That wreck left Earnhardt with a concussion and forced him to miss two races, ending his slim hopes of winning his first championship. "It hasn't been going great here — as great as I want it to go here lately," Earnhardt, ninth in points, said Friday. "We have torn up a lot of cars and been frustrated most times when we leave here. I still come back as confident and excited about the opportunities as ever. That is the way we feel this weekend."

Vikings rookie running back Dalvin Cook (33), a standout at Florida State, is third in the league in rushing after two games and fourth in average yards per game.
