Scouting report: Talladega
Jeff Gordon, right, swept both races at Talladega in 2007 and the six-time winner should again contend this time around. A victory — he has none this season — would do wonders for his chances for a fifth Sprint Cup championship. After early woes at the 2.66-mile superspeedway, Jimmie Johnson has become a perennial factor, winning in spring 2006 and getting spun trying to break for the lead in the fall. Johnson's march for a third straight title could get a major boost today.
