Alas, Tim Tebow Week — eight baseball games in eight nights that reunited Tebow with his Tampa Bay friends and admirers — is over. The fun ended Thursday night.

Ten years after his Heisman Trophy season at Florida, Tebow is giving professional baseball a whirl in the New York Mets system. His June promotion to the Florida State League and the St. Lucie Mets' road trip through Tampa and Clearwater gave local fans their first prolonged look at Tebow since his days in Gainesville.

What did they see? Same 'ol Tebow. A personal touch and home run that made a little boy's day. A helping hand for a special young lady singing the God Bless America. A 30th birthday celebration in Clearwater.

Tebow drew twice as many fans as either team averaged this summer, managing to mix in a base hit here and there. Then again, with Tebow it's always been about more than sports.
