TAMPA — A top prospect with the New York Yankees was arrested early Thursday, police said, accused of driving under the influence.
Mason Williams, 21, was headed west on Kennedy Boulevard in a Range Rover when an officer saw him weaving in and out of a lane, going about 50 mph in a 40 mph zone.
The officer pulled Williams over, decided he displayed "clues of impairment," police said, and arrested him. Williams submitted to a breath test, which measured his blood alcohol level around 0.06, below the level at which the law presumes a driver to be impaired.
Williams faces a DUI charge. He was booked into the Hillsborough County jail and was released late Thursday morning on $500 bail.
