The dish

Rays at Yankees

When/where: 1:05 today, Yankee Stadium, New York

TV/radio: Sun Sports; 620-AM, 680-AM (Spanish)

Probable pitchers:

Rays: LH David Price (12-4, 2.42)

Yankees: LH Andy Pettitte (11-2, 2.70)

Watch for …

Price check: Coming off his All-Star Game start, Price, who leads the American League in wins and ERA, faces a Yankees team he has dominated, going 2-0, 2.56 in five previous appearances while allowing just a .153 average.

Dandy Andy: Pettitte is having another wonderful season. And he has been even tougher during the day, going 7-0, 1.67 in eight games. He's typically tough on the Rays, 16-6, 4.01 overall, though they roughed him up on May 20.

Derek Jeter 2-for-14, HR

Mark Teixeira 1-for-11

Rays vs. Pettitte

Tuesday: at Orioles, 7:05, Sun Sports. Rays — Matt Garza (10-5, 4.05); Orioles — Jake Arrieta (3-2, 4.38)

Rays old-timers day?

The Yankees celebrated their 64th old-timers day on Saturday. Maybe it's too soon after 13 seasons, but what would a Rays "old-timers" squad look like? Omitting the still active Miguel Cairo and Randy Winn, how about this:

C: John Flaherty

1B: Fred McGriff

2B: Bobby Smith

SS: Kevin Stocker

3B: Wade Boggs

LF: Paul Sorrento

CF: Quinton McCracken

RF: Dave Martinez

DH: Jose Canseco

SP: Rolando Arrojo

RP: Roberto Hernandez

Old-timers notes of the day

• Rays third-base coach Tom Foley, who played 13 seasons in the majors, wondered why, at age 50, he hadn't been in an old-timers game yet. "I don't know if I'm not old enough to get asked," Foley said, "or that I wasn't good enough to be invited."

• Bench coach Dave Martinez, who played 16 seasons, knows why he hasn't been. "I don't consider myself old yet," the 45-year-old said. "Maybe when I'm over 50."
