At Orioles

Tonight-Wednesday

What's new: In the 96 days since they last played, the Orioles have fired manager Dave Trembley, named Juan Samuel the interim skipper and entered serious talks with Buck Showalter to take over. And they are still the worst team in the majors. Ex-Ray Ty Wigginton became a first-time All-Star, but there hasn't been much else good going on. Three more key players — C Matt Wieters, RHP Kevin Millwood and LF/DH Luke Scott — are on the DL, joining 2B Brian Roberts, who is close to making his season debut.

Key stat: The O's have been outscored 72-33 in the first inning.

Connections: O's INFs Julio Lugo and Wigginton and LHP Mark Hendrickson are ex-Rays. Rays RHP Lance Cormier is a former Oriole.

Series history: Rays lead 5-1 this season; teams are 105-105 all time; O's lead 57-47 in Baltimore.
