Of no-hit note
• First no-hitter in Rays history (only Mets and Padres don't have one).
• Rays are third team in major-league history to be involved in three no-hitters in the same season. The 1917 Browns threw two and had one thrown against them — all of them, amazingly enough, when facing the White Sox.
• First time in 37 years two no-hitters in same AL ballpark, since Kansas City's Steve Busby and California's Nolan Ryan threw them in Detroit in 1973. (Last time in NL, 2001 at San Diego.)
• First time two no-hitters in same park this close together (31 days) since 1969 in Cincinnati: Jim Maloney vs. Houston, Houston's Don Wilson. (Last time in AL, 1951.)
• Second no-hitter at Tropicana Field. (Arizona's Edwin Jackson, June 25)
• Fifth no-hitter of major-league season.
