Joe Maddon flexes his muscle to promote Rays ticket packs

Manager Joe Maddon has, in the spirit of cooperation and creativity, put himself out there to promote the Rays. And now he is on a billboard where Interstate 275 and Interstate 4 meet, flexing his 60-year-old biceps to pitch ticket flex packs (get it?). "How about it? Guns out," Maddon said, making clear it was the idea of team officials Brian Auld and Darcy Raymond. "They talked me into it." Maddon has gone along with several interesting promotions (gnome, bank, Mr. Potato Head), but he didn't expect to be flexing larger than life for all to see. "Never," he said. "Or let me put it this way: after you reach a certain age, never." So the question and ongoing debate among some Rays officials is whether the photo is natural or was, shall we say, enhanced. "It looks pretty legit to me," Maddon said, smiling.
