A Zim memory

Four days after posting a photo on Twitter of a sign for the late Don Zimmer's beloved Derby Lane, the sign showed up at Tropicana Field as a gift from the greyhound track in St. Petersburg to manager Joe Maddon. "I'm staggered by that," Maddon said. "I mean that sincerely." Maddon plans to get the sign restored. He isn't sure where he'll display it.

Numbers of the day

31 Consecutive scoreless innings for the Rays before Matt Joyce's RBI single in the fourth.

21 Consecutive hitless at-bats with runners in scoring position before Joyce's single.

Quote of the day

"It's good to be home. It feels great. There's a lot of family here today. It's always a pleasure to connect with both sides, Mom and Dad's side of the family."

Tampa's Tony La Russa, who threw out the first pitch
