Rays-Blue Jays preview
What's new: The Blue Jays are wrapping up a dismal season in which they were a popular pick to win the World Series and won't even come close to .500. Most of the key pieces they were counting on aren't even playing any more, as RF Jose Bautista, 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion, OF/DH Melky Cabrera, CF Colby Rasmus, INF Maicer Izturis, LHP Brett Cecil and RHPs Josh Johnson and Brandon Morrow have all been shut down by injury. The Jays had lost six of their past nine and 11 of 16.
Key stat: The Jays have scored five or fewer runs in seven straight games and 15 of their past 17.
Connections: Rays C Jose Molina, INFs Yunel Escobar and Kelly Johnson are former Jays. Toronto RHP Todd Redmond, who starts Sunday, is a St. Petersburg native.
Series history: Rays lead 10-6 this season and 146-127 overall; Jays lead 73-63 in Toronto.
