Digging disco I
During '70s Night, the Rays showed a video on the JumboTron of manager Joe Maddon entering Tropicana Field like John Travolta in the opening scene of Saturday Night Fever. Maddon, who wore a Star Trek shirt and jeans in the clip, said the disco era was his favorite — after it was over. "When you're actually living the era, I was kind of the anti-disco era," Maddon said. "I was more rock 'n' roll and long hair. But I was always appreciative of how the women dressed during the era."
Digging disco II
The Rays had plenty of laughs over the disco-dressed versions of themselves on the scoreboard during their at-bats from Wil Myers' large Afro to RHP Roberto Hernandez's Austin Powers-look. DH Luke Scott liked the vintage white suit they put on him: "It's like they may have raided (first-base coach George Hendrick's) closet and picked out something from back in his day and said, 'You know what? Luke might look good in this.' "
Tweet of the day
"Thank you @RaysJoeMaddon and the rays fans for the kind words and support after my debut. Something I will never forget #classact."
Astros rookie RHP Jarred Cosart, who carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning in beating the Rays 2-1 at the Trop in his big-league debut Friday
