Tough interviewer

Rays OF Brandon Guyer couldn't really turn down his pregame interview request Monday: it came from his wife, Lindsay Murphy, a sports anchor for the Washington, D.C. Fox affiliate. They met when she interviewed him at the University of Virginia. "This is our first interview since then," Murphy said. "Besides me grilling him at home — 'Why would you swing at that pitch?' " Check myfoxdc.com for highlights.

The Rays way

In their previous five games before Monday, the Rays were 3-0 when scoring two or fewer runs, 0-2 when scoring three or more.

Number of the day

5

Rays called up on this road trip, including LHP Jeff Beliveau twice.
