Lightning goalie Ben Bishop (right), a big baseball fan, took his opportunity to throw Wednesday's first pitch pretty seriously, practicing a couple of days with Lightning assistant athletic trainer Mike Poirier and captain Steven Stamkos. After a quick tip from Rays starter Chris Archer, who caught him, Bishop threw a perfect strike. "It was a lot of fun," said Bishop, who joked he'd be sore in the morning. "Great honor. I'm happy I was able to throw a strike."

Table for (No.) 2?

Evan Longoria isn't the only Ray hoping to get together at some point with Derek Jeter, once he retires to his Davis Islands home. Manager Joe Maddon said he, too, hopes for a sitdown and conveniently has a place in mind: the Ava restaurant he will open in November in South Tampa. "Hopefully I'm going to get a chance to know him better in the offseason, whether it's somewhere around South Tampa or in a restaurant, down at Ava — A-V-A — an inspired Italian restaurant."
