Not just good ownership

Manager Joe Maddon raves frequently about the support the team gets from principal owner Stuart Sternberg and Co. Maddon experienced it first hand Sunday night when partners Randy Frankel and Tim Mullen invited him out. "No organization does well without great ownership," Maddon said. "And we have great ownership. Actually went out to dinner with two of them last night and they picked up the bill — that's even better ownership."

Birthday licks

What do you get someone who probably has pretty much everything, and a $100 million plus contract to get whatever else they want, for their birthday? If you're Jaime Edmondson, you get 3B Evan Longoria a guitar signed by Slash, of Guns N' Roses fame. "That was awesome," Longoria said. "She did a good job."
