Rays: Longoria inspired to create team T-shirts

The shirt does the talking

3B Evan Longoria was scrolling through Twitter when he saw an old photo of Pirates great Dave Parker wearing an eye-catching T-shirt, so much so he had similar ones made for the Rays. "I thought it'd be a great team shirt for this year," Longoria said.

Those were the days

Tuesday, understandably, was slugging OF Wil Myers first-ever game as a pro hitting leadoff. But, it turns out, he'd done it plenty of times before. "I was always leadoff and centerfielder, from age 10 to 13 or 14," he said. "I wasn't big when I was younger — a nice little leadoff batter."

From Dr. Quinn to Kat

Manager Joe Maddon had another brush with fame Monday while dining at his fave Tampa restaurant, 717 South. He and actor Jane Seymour talked some baseball, as her son is a high school catcher in Malibu with pro aspirations. She is known for her TV series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, but Maddon said his favorite Seymour performance was as Kathleen "Kitty Kat" Cleary, above, in the movie Wedding Crashers.
