On Nova: He is 6-4 with a 2.24 ERA over the past three seasons against the Rays. Nova got off to a slow start this season (nine earned runs over 9⅓ innings and two starts). But in his last start, he allowed two earned runs over 7⅓ against Boston.

Rays slumps usually get manager Joe Maddon's creative mind whirling as he tries to alleviate the pressure. Magicians, snakes, penguins — nothing is out of bounds.
