Introducing, the Joe-tato

Manager Joe Maddon played with Mr. Potato Head growing up in Pennsylvania, both the pieces you stuck into real potatoes, and the plastic version. So he knew what the Rays marketing folks were getting him into their new promotion, the Joe Maddon Mr. Potato Head, given away Aug. 2. "It's part of a lot of the crazy stuff that we do that's also highly complimentary at the same time," Maddon said. "Let's just say I'm happy to be lionized (lyonaised?) as Mr. Potato Head."

Reacting to Mr. Potato Head

"I see the resemblance."
