Rays: Matt Moore feels lucky

Matt Moore quotes of the day

"We're probably very fortunate this happened on a Sunday, the Lord's day, and maybe not another day."

On escaping serious injury after being hit by a line drive

"They were wiggling them and said they were all in there. They're pretty big. They can stand up for themselves."

On the potential for damage to his somewhat famous teeth

"It's definitely something that you're going to try to put in the back of your mind as fast as possible."

On the aftermath of being hit

Matt Moore analogy of the day

Rays LHP Matt Moore said that as a pitcher, you have to try to not think about being hit by a line drive no matter how many times it happens. "You try to go out there fearless and not really think, 'Can this happen? Can it happen this pitch?' " he said. "I think the more and more you see it, the more and more you're obviously going to think about it. It's like every time you get on the freeway, you don't think about getting in a car accident, but if you're in a car accident, it'll shake you up pretty good."

Surprise of the day

The last person to know Matt Moore got hit in the face apparently was Boston batter Xander Bogaerts. "I thought (the ball) hit his glove," Bogaerts said. "He got up, and he threw me out. I definitely didn't think it got him in his face. It wasn't my intention, obviously. I wish him nothing but the best."
