Twitter trash talk

The Rays' tense and emotional 2-1 win over the Red Sox on Monday, which included a blown call, sparked some Twitter trash talk by the teams. @Raysbaseball account posted this message after the win put Tampa Bay in first place: "Dear @RedSox scoreboard operator — your standings are wrong. Yours truly, @RaysBaseball." Then the @redsox account responded with this post, later deleted: "Don't worry @raysbaseball we look forward to seeing you in Tampa in September for our home games at the Trop."

Quote of the day

"It's like when you're a little kid and you have homework to do and you can't go outside and play with your buddies until it's done, and they're playing right outside your window. You can watch them every night and they're just beating up everybody that they see."

RHP Alex Cobb, on how tough it is to be on the disabled list with a mild concussion while the Rays have been playing so well.

Quote of the day 2

"It felt like we were gone a month."

OF Sam Fuld on the Rays' 11-day road trip that included stops in Toronto, New York and two trips to Boston.
