Remember him?

Sunday marked the 17th anniversary of the big-league debut of Jim Morris, the 35-year-old lefty whose remarkable story spawned a Disney movie featuring Dennis Quaid. Morris took the mound for the Devil Rays in his home state of Texas against the Rangers on Sept. 18, 1999, and struck out Royce Clayton, the only batter he faced, on four pitches, several hitting 96 mph. Morris was the oldest rookie in the majors since Minnie Mendoza debuted for the Twins in 1970 at age 36.

"We played a great series here. We could've easily swept the series, but it's a split. And that's just how it goes. We played a tough series."
