Roger Mooney's takeaways from Thursday's Rays-Marlins game

It will be interesting to see what the Rays do with SS Tim Beckham when Matt Duffy returns from the DL. Obviously, Duffy will play short, but they have to find a way to keep Beckham's bat in the lineup, right? Maybe as the right-handed platoon at first base with Logan Morrison.

Manager Kevin Cash said he does not have plans to drop slumping CF Kevin Kiermaier down the lineup, but isn't that worthy of discussion? Taking Kiermaier out of the No. 2 spot should take some pressure off him, and dropping him to, say, seventh or eighth would give him a different look at the game.

At this point last year Rays followers were wondering why the team was sticking with 1B Logan Morrision. Now they want him to play every day. Funny how baseball works. Morrison was tied for the team lead in home runs Thursday and is playing steady defense. Sometimes all a player needs is time.
