Yes, a Sunday off
Because of the Republican National Convention welcome party at Tropicana Field tonight, the Rays adjusted their schedule and have a rare Sunday off. It is the first scheduled Sunday off in the majors, not related to an international trip, since 1995, when there was a conflict with a football game in St. Louis.
Today: Off
Next game: Monday, at Rangers, 8:05 p.m. Rays — David Price (16-4, 2.28); Rangers — Derek Holland (8-6, 4.92)
Reaction of the day
The Rays were amused and intrigued by the developments in Boston, which led to the blockbuster trade that sent Josh Beckett, Adrian Gonzalez, Nick Punto and ex-mate Carl Crawford to the Dodgers. "That's crazy," LHP David Price said. "It's taking some pretty good bats from that Boston lineup, so it's good for us."
