Tampa Bay Rays: Joe Maddon won't go totally bare-headed; David Price may recruit help toweling off

Bald move of the day

Manager Joe Maddon has decided on a closely trimmed No. 1 cut, rather than going all the way (a la USF coach Stan Heath), for Thursday's head-shaving to benefit pediatric cancer, concerned about the issues of an in-grown hair. He doesn't plan to live with the look long: "My hair does grow relatively quick. I hope this is not going to put a damper on the reproduction process of my follicles."

Preventive maneuver of the day

LHP David Price will return to action Tuesday, planning to take it easier toweling off his head between innings after knocking himself out of Thursday's game by overdoing it. Actually, the 6-foot-6 Price said he may get some help from his bosses. "I might have Joe (Maddon) do it," he said. "Andrew (Friedman)'s too short."

Who is this Ray?

He is the youngest of eight children. He was acquired in trade from the Angels. He made his big-league debut last season.

    A coalition of advocacy groups 'take a knee' outside of a hotel where members the quarterly NFL league meetings are being held on Tuesday in New York City.  Owners, players and commissioner Roger Goodell are all expected to attend. The activists spoke of having solidarity with athletes and coaches around the country who have also kneeled in protest of racial injustice, especially in policing.
