Fashion statement of the day

During their 2008 postseason run, the Rays sported the Ray-Hawk, a modified version of the Mohawk haircut, and the fans followed. This year's novelty is the blue plaid in their team BRaysers and the bill of their new caps, and manager Joe Maddon is hoping fans will, um, check it out. "Real men wear plaid," Maddon said. "Come on out in your plaids — that would be awesome. To have this ballpark plaided out would be very cool."

Fact of the day

The Rays are the first team in MLB history to have 10 straight losing seasons then make the playoffs in two of the next three.
