Improv of the day
C Jose Lobaton said marrying his girlfriend of three years, Nina, Monday morning at home plate at Tropicana Field "was a moment I'm never going to forget." The ceremony came together quickly, with 1B Carlos Peña the best man, and Lobaton admitted there was one hiccup: He didn't have any vows prepared for when he placed the ring on Nina's finger and had to improvise. "I said, 'Really? No one told me,' " Lobaton joked. "I think it must have been good, because Carlos' wife was crying."

Improv of the day 2
Manager Joe Maddon, who recently aggravated an old college football injury to his right pinky, said it's still sore, but it won't limit his sign-giving and normal daily routine. He did say it might "impact the neatness of my penmanship." But as for eating? "I can eat left-handed, too," he quipped.
