Tampa Bay Rays up next: Orioles

Up next

What's new: Not much has changed since the Orioles left the Trop last week, as they went 3-2 at home against the Twins and Yankees. They're still a team with an explosive offensive lineup, led by Nick Markakis, Adam Jones, Brian Roberts and ex-Ray Aubrey Huff, and a flammable pitching staff that has allowed an AL-most 52 home runs. Their starters have a 5.35 ERA, and their relievers are worse at 5.68, though ex-Ray Danys Baez (2-1, 2.50) has been throwing well.

Key stat: The O's have outscored opponents 79-59 over the first three innings then been outscored 130-84 after that.

Connections: Orioles RHP Danys Baez, LHP Mark Hendrickson and INFs Aubrey Huff and Ty Wigginton, right, are all ex-Rays; RHP Chris Ray is a Tampa product. Rays RHP Lance Cormier spent most of last season in Baltimore.

Series history: Orioles lead 99-92 overall, 54-41 at Camden Yards.
