Tampa Bay Rays up next: Toronto Blue Jays

vs. Blue Jays

What's new: Led by the surprising Jose Bautista, the Jays have been putting on quite a power show — he has a major-league most 42 homers, they lead all teams with 197. The pitching can be pretty good, too, as they have four 10-game winners and some power arms in the bullpen. Since sweeping the Rays in Toronto Aug. 6-8, they put 3B Edwin Encarnacion on the DL and got C John Buck back (sending down rookie J.P. Arencibia).

Key stat: The Rays have won 10 consecutive series against the Jays at Tropicana Field, losing last April 6-8, 2007.

Connections: Bautista and reliever Shawn Camp are former Rays, third-base coach Brian Butterfield is a former Eckerd College assistant.

Series history: Tied 6-6 this season; Jays lead 109-106 overall, Rays lead 61-45 at Trop.
