Tim Beckham among Tampa Bay Rays' spring training invitees

The Tampa Bay Rays have invited shortstop Tim Beckham, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2008 draft, to major-league spring training, along with four other minor-leaguers: C Craig Albernaz, RHP Brian Baker, RHP Ricky Orta and C Stephen Vogt.

With those five, the Rays camp roster stand at 54, with veterans Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez expected to be added next week when their signings become official. With 39 players currently on the 40-man roster, the Rays will have to make at least one roster move before their additions.

Beckham will be in camp for the third time, Albernaz for the second. Orta was in camp with the Mariners last season and was on the 40-man roster, but was injured.
