5A baseball: Venice strikes late to top Gaither

Venice comes on strong late to top Cowboys

Venice scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to end visiting Gaither's season 7-3 in the Class 5A region quarterfinals Tuesday.

Gaither starter Alex Milne held Venice to three runs on two hits, striking out five. But reliever Dylan Hathcock took the loss, allowing four runs over 12/3 innings.

Justin Delgado was 2-for-3 and Mike Danner was 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Cowboys, who ended their season 21-5.
