A-8 baseball: Bayshore Christian falters, Citrus Park advances

BRADENTON — Top-seeded Bradenton Christian beat Bayshore Christian 16-1 in a Class A, District 8 semifinal Thursday.

BCS (14-7) faces Citrus Park Christian, a 16-11 winner over Seffner Christian, at 4:30 p.m. today.

BCS' J.T. Thomas, limited to pinch-hit duties the past three weeks because of tendinitis in his throwing elbow, returned as the No. 3 hitter, going 4-for-4 with two home runs and two runs scored.

He also had six RBIs, which included a two-run single off a pitch thrown so far outside it was in the left-handed batter's box.

Bayshore Christian managed five hits, with Garrett Stenholm (2-for-3, two doubles, RBI) leading.

BCS' Chase Carter threw 71 pitches in five innings, 48 for strikes.
