Strawberry Crest got four shutout innings from freshman Cory Smith against Robinson. Smith gave up one hit and two walks, and he had two strikeouts
Alonso freshman Kevin Nunez threw a complete game against Chamberlain, walking two, striking out one and giving up five hits.
Hitters of the day
Steinbrenner senior second basemen Jesse Haney went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a homer and three RBIs
Jefferson's Nelson Maldonado went 4-for-4 with a pair of singles and a pair of solo homers to drive in four of the Dragons' five runs.
Defensive gem of the day
With one out in the bottom of the first and runners on first and second, Plant City's Connor Slagill hit a hard grounder to the Jefferson third baseman, who started a double play. It was ended by senior first basemen Gabriel Selochan doing a full split to dig the ball from the dirt and collect the second out.
