USF vs. Hampton

When/where: 7; Sun Dome, Tampa

Radio: 1250-AM

Records: Hampton 2-5; USF 6-1

Notable: Three of Hampton's losses are by five points or fewer, and it has won two straight, against Wyoming and Monmouth. … The Pirates' top two scorers are guards Vincent Simpson (14.9 ppg) and Darrion Pellum (13.5), with 6-8 forward Michael Freeman next at 12.1 ppg. Hampton has been outrebounded by seven per game. … USF has gotten a strong start from sophomore F Gus Gilchrist, who averages a team-best 20.1 points and is 8-for-10 on 3-pointers. Junior G Dominique Jones is averaging 16.9 points and a team-best 5.4 assists. … A win for USF would match the program's best record after eight games. The Bulls have had two 11-1 starts.
