Doc Rivers' son commits to Gators, Donovan

Austin Rivers, 15-year-old son of Celtics coach Doc Rivers, orally committed to Florida, the Orlando Sentinel reported Thursday.

Rivers, a 6-foot-3 rising sophomore guard at Winter Park High, averaged 14 points, four rebounds and three assists a game for a 28-2 team. He is the youngest player ever to commit to Gators basketball coach Billy Donovan, the Sentinel reported. Point guard Nick Calathes committed to UF after his sophomore season at Lake Howell.

"He's got a maturity level to his game that you don't see in a lot of college players," Rivals.com recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer told Gatorbait.net.

44 wins forfeited: Southeast Missouri will not appeal NCAA sanctions calling for the forfeiture of 44 women's basketball victories as well as placing both the women's and men's programs on two years of probation. The school released a statement saying officials opted not to appeal. The violations in the women's program primarily involved impermissible housing, transportation and meals for prospective student-athletes who had not yet enrolled. The men's program had allowed ineligible transfers to practice.

GEORGIA: Sophomore defensive end Michael Lemon was suspended from the football team a day after he was charged with misdemeanor battery and felony aggravated battery for punching a student and breaking his eye socket.

South Carolina: The athletic department reported nine NCAA secondary violations in the past six months, including one when a staffer bet dinner on a game not involving the Gamecocks.
