College basketball preview: USF Bulls vs. Liberty

USF vs. Liberty

When/where: 7; Sun Dome, Tampa

TV/radio: BHSN; 1250-AM

Records: Liberty 2-3, USF 2-2

Notable: The Bulls bounced back with a 13-point win against Georgia Southern on Sunday, with F Augustus Gilchrist leading the way with 23 points on 8-of-8 shooting. USF's frontcourt should enjoy a similar size advantage against the Flames, whose only players 6 feet 8 or taller barely see playing time. … Liberty has a local in 6-6 junior G David Minaya, a former Oldsmar Christian and Tennessee Tech player averaging 12.2 points. Averaging a double double as a 6-4 guard is John Brown (12.6 points, 11.8 rebounds), and the top scorer is 6-2 G Evan Gordon. … USF's best perimeter shooter has been sophomore Jawanza Poland, who is 6-of-14, but that's the most 3-pointers of any Bulls player after four games. … With two more games in the next five days, look for Stan Heath to use his bench more if the scoreboard allows.
