College basketball preview: USF vs. Providence

USF vs. Providence

When/where: 9; Sun Dome, Tampa

TV/radio: ESPNU; 98.7-FM

Records: Providence 12-11, 4-7 Big East; USF 10-13, 1-10

Notable: USF has won five of the past six meetings with Providence, though the Friars come in hot, having beaten No. 17 Cincinnati this weekend behind 25 points and nine rebounds from forward Kadeem Batts. … Guard Bryce Cotton is the Big East leader in conference games at 20.9 points per game and is hitting a league-high 3.3 3-pointers per contest. … The Bulls expect to have back leading scorer Victor Rudd, who missed Saturday's game at Villanova with a groin injury. Providence has solid rebounders in Batts and LaDontae Henton, so the Bulls could use a healthy Rudd as a post presence. … USF has been struggling to score even by its low-tempo standards, with 50 points or fewer in four of the past six games, all losses.
